There have been some incredible moments in my life that I’ll never forget. The first time I saw a pair of boobs, or when Michael Jordan hit the game-winner against the Utah Jazz in Game 6 of the 1998 Finals and, finally, when I got to meet my little nephew for the first time, among others.
As amazing as all those occurrences were, they may pale in comparison to what BBC TV host Steve Backshall just witnessed.
While on live TV doing an interview with a marine expert at Moss Landing in California, Backshall got word in his ear piece from a producer that a blue whale was spotted from the helicopter overhead, causing the host to absolutely lose his shit and go on some sort of tangent about how this was forever a live-changing moment.
Just watch as he cuts off the marine expert and just has diarrhea of the mouth about what a gracious and majestic creature the blue whale is, no doubt getting a little bit of a chubby over the sight of it.
Included in his overzealous rant:
“This is one of the most extraordinary things I’ve ever seen.”
He didn’t stop there, though, as his disbelief continued, saying:
“When I started my wildlife career 16 years ago, if someone would have told me to go film a blue whale, I would’ve told them they were crazy.”
And, if the tone of his voice didn’t give it away, ol’ Steve wanted to remind people how unbelievable it was to see this thing, adding:
“This is something that every single person out there should look at and take notice of.”
I dare you to find me a person who’s more amped about something in their life than Steve Backshall is about this blue whale. Bet you can’t do it.
